For us in the 5th district of Ohio, we have a congressman by the name of Bob Latta. We at PrintMyThing (and parent company, CMC Group) have had the benefit of him taking a tour of our facilities, and for me personally, I grew up around the corner from where he lived until recently. He is a fellow runner and a good man. That said, I came across this site [tweetcongress.org] a few days ago and thought, hmm, politicians on twitter/facebook…this cannot be good… After a bit more looking, I began to see the benefits of knowing all of the minute details of my congressman’s dealings, so I went looking for our Mr. Bob Latta…and found him using many of today’s social sites like: facebook, flickr, utterli, youtube and finally…twitter.

lattaofficialphoto2_smWhy is this important? It seems that as a business, group, or person living in these United States it is our responsibility to know how our elected officials are spending their time and tell them if we think they are doing a good or poor job. These social sites make it really easy to know exactly what they are doing, and keep lines of communication open. So for me, yes, i would follow my congressman, and I encourage you to do the same whether on twitter or facebook or whatever outlet they are using.
